One Day by David Nicholls

This book did not appeal to me at.all. I picked it up as a last resort whilst on holiday, in the midst of the book's success but before a film was released. Everything about this book I hated, the concept, the period, the popularity.....before I read it. So I still don't LOVE this book but I recognise that it is a good read and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it......but I still haven't seen the film, Sorry.

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman

Another book directed at teens, I just can't seem to find adult fiction that has the same high element of fantasy and imagination!? I read this only a couple of months ago and again in a couple of days, although it is a lengthy book. A fantastic book, which has been made into a film. If you are looking for something with a lot of energy and uniqueness then this is for you.

The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

I read this a few years ago as a teen, in fact it was the beginning of my vampire obsession! A whirlwind adventure, along the lines of Dan Brown but better, in search of the original Dracula. A rather large book but easily finished in a short time as I could not put this down.

The Behaviour of Moths by Poppy Adams

An enigma, to say the least. Obviously a lot of people have enjoyed, but it confused me. If you like a different style of writing combined with a seemingly bland storyline (emphasise on seemingly) then give this a go....?
